1. The volume cannot be used as a Cnt Ac-J data volume for delta resync.
2. For information on Auto LUN, contact HP Technical Support.
3. If the source volume is used as a P-VOL, the volume migration will stop.
4. The volume can be used as a S-VOL only when you restore a Cnt Ac-J pair or perform a RAID Manager horctakeover
operation, though not for a delta resync operation
5. The volume cannot be used as the Cnt Ac-J P-VOL if the specified journal was registered when 2DC Cascade was
set to Enable in the Edit Journal Volume dialog box. For information about this journal, see “2 data center
configuration ” (page 140).
6. When creating a Cnt Ac-J pair, you cannot specify the volume which is already used as a Snapshot P-VOL as a
Cnt Ac-J S-VOL.
The following sections clarify key information regarding shared volumes.
LUN Expansion
• The capacity and configuration of LUSE volumes assigned to a Continuous Access Journal
S-VOL must be the same as the P-VOL. For example, if the P-VOL is a LUSE volume in which
1-GB, 2-GB, 3-GB volumes are combined in this order, the S-VOL must be a LUSE volume in
which 1-GB, 2-GB, 3-GB volumes are combined in the same order.
• Continuous Access Journal-supported RAID groups RAID1, RAID5, and RAID6 can coexist in
the LUSE volume.
• To make a Continuous Access Journal pair’s P-VOL and S-VOL into LUSE volumes, the pair
must be deleted and the volumes’ status returned to SMPL. For more information about LUSE,
see HP P9000 Provisioning for Open Systems User Guide.
Virtual LUN
• Continuous Access Journal supports the Virtual LUN feature, which allows you to configure
custom-size LU that are smaller than standard-size LUs. When custom-size LUs are assigned
to a Continuous Access Journal pair, the S-VOL must have the same capacity as the P-VOL.
• To perform Virtual LUN operations on a pair’s P-VOL and S-VOL, the pair must be deleted
and the volumes’ status returned to SMPL.
Cache Residency
You can perform Cache Residency operations on a Continuous Access Journal pair’s P-VOL and
S-VOL.
Auto LUN
Except when Continuous Access Journal pair status is COPY or PAIR, you can specify the Continuous
Access Journal P-VOL or S-VOL as source volumes of Auto LUN.
Conversely, you cannot specify Continuous Access Journal pair volumes and journal volumes as
the target volumes of Auto LUN.
