Using Twisted-Pair Cable

To expand your network, the hub can be cascaded to another hub by

using the Cascade port. You can connect up to 4 hubs together by

using this port. The following illustration shows two hubs chained

together.

(This type of connection is also called “MDI/MDI-X” where MDI is the

hub-to-hub connection and MDI-X is the hub-to-a-device connection.

A device is a printer, computer, or other Ethernet product.)

Caution If you connect cable to both the Cascade

port and port 8, the connections will not

work. The two ports cannot be used

simultaneously.

Use “straight-through” cable not “cross-

over cable” between the hubs when using

the Cascade port.

Standard twisted-pair cable.

No mimimum cable length.

Maximum length: 100 meters.
