This section describes how to view the statistics about disk access performance. Before taking
the following s, you need to start monitoring in accordance with the procedure described in
“Starting and Stopping Storage System Monitoring” on page 49 and obtain the usage statistics.
Viewing I/O Ra
tes for Disks
Performance M
onitor monitors hard disk drives and measures I/O rates (that is, the number of disk
I/Os per second).
To view I/O rates:
1. Ensure that th
e Auto LUN window is displayed.
2.
Click the LDEV tab (Figure 9 on page 35).
Thetreedisplaysalist of parity groups andexternalvolumegroups.
3. Select IOPS from the drop-down list on the right side of the window.
4. In thetree, do oneofthe following:
•To view the I
/O rate for each parity group and external volume group, select the Subsystem
folder or a
Box folder.
Thelistonthe rightdisplaysthe I/Oratefor each group(Figure 30 on page 63).
Note:
If you select the Subsystem folder, the list displays all parity groups and external
volume groups. To narrow the number of groups to be displayed in the list, select a Box
folder. For example, if you select the Box 1 folder, the list displays only the parity groups
whose IDs start with 1-.
•To view th
e I/O rate for each volume, select the parity group or external volume group
that contains the volumes.
Thelistonthe right displaysthe I/Oratefor each volume in theselectedgroup
(Figure 3
0 on page 63).
The displ
ayed statistics are the average and the maximum I/O rates for the period specified
in the From and To boxes.
Note:
If you change the date and time in the From and To boxes and then click the Apply button,
Performance Monitor recalculates usage rates and updates information in the list. To change
the date and time in From and To boxes, use the arrow buttons and the sliders (for details, see
“Auto LU
NWindow, Physical Tab” on page 29).
5. To disp
lay a graph to find out how the I/O rate has been changed, take the following steps;
a. In the list, select the parity group(s), the external volume groups, or the volume(s) that
you want.
b. Use the
drop-downlistatthe rightside ofthe list to select the type ofinformation that
you wa
nt to view in the graph. For details on the information that can be displayed, see
Table
4 on page 37 in “LDEV Tab of the Auto LUN Window” on page 34.
c. Click the Draw button.
A graph appears below the list. The horizontal axis indicates the time.
Caution:
If the graph does not display changes in the I/O rate (for example, if the line in
the gr
aph runs vertically), it is recommended that you change the value in the Chart Y Axis
Rate
drop-down list. For example, if the largest value in the list is 200 and the value in
Char
tYAxis Rate is 100, you should select a value larger than 200 from Chart Y Axis Rate.
d. To v
iew more detailed information in the graph, use the drop-down list to the right of the
lis
tto selectthe type of informationthatyou want. Next, select the Detail check box at the
lower right of the list and then click the Draw button. The detailed graph contents change as
described in Table 5 on page 38 in “LDEV Tab of the Auto LUN Window”onpage34.
Caution:
If more than one parity group or volume is selected in the list, you cannot select
the Detail check box to view detailed information.
