3 Enter the following command line:

tar -xvf devicefile pathname

where deviceﬁle is the device ﬁle as listed by sam and pathname is the path-

name of the ﬁle or directory containing ﬁles that you want to restore from the

diskette. If you don’t specify pathname, everything on the ﬂoppy diskette is

restored.

Listing the Files on a Floppy Diskette

Use the following instructions to list the ﬁles on a ﬂoppy diskette:

1 Load the ﬂoppy diskette into the disk drive.

2 In a terminal window, enter the following command line:

tar -tvf deviceﬁle

where deviceﬁle is the device ﬁle as listed by sam.

All ﬁles on the ﬂoppy diskette are listed.
