: An LDEV number that ends with a letter X indicates that the LDEV is a virtual volume
(V-VOL) for XP Thin Provisioning (for example, 00:00:01 X). For details regarding V-VOLs, see

• Emulation:This field shows the emulation type of the L DEV.
• Capacity:This field shows the capacity of the LDEV.
• OK button
This button is used to release the LUSE volume configuration in the release list. The released LDEVs
are displayed in
blue bold italic s
in the LDEV information list.
• Cancel button
This but ton is used to cancel the release LUSE operation.
Changing LUSE Capacities
There are two ways to change the capacity of a LUSE volume:
• Expanding LUSE capacities
To expand the capacity of a LUSE volume, select the LUSE volume that you want to expand,
and then add
LDEVs or LUSE volumes; or firstselectLDEVs or LUSE volumesthatyou want
to
add, and then select a LUSE volume to be expanded. For further information, see
“Creating a LUSE Volume” on page 22.

You cannot r
educe
the capacity of an existing LUSE volume. If you want a LUSE
volume to h
ave a smaller capacity, you must first release the LUSE volume (see
“Releasing a LUSE Volume” on page 27), and then redefine the LUSE volume (see
“Creating a LUSE Volume”onpage22).
Displaying a List of Volumes Combined into a LUSE Volume
A LUSE volume is a combination of multiple volumes (LDEVs) . To display a list of volumes that are
combined into one LUSE volume, follow the procedure below:
1. Make sure that Remote Web Console is in Modify mode.

2. Select a LUSE volume in the LDEV Detail table (in the upper-right corner of the LUN Expansion
tab). Right-click aLUSEvolumetodisplay apop-upmenu.
3. Select LUSE Detail from the pop-up menu.
The L USE Detail dialog box (Figure 7 on page 29) displays a list of volumes (LDEVs) combined
into the LUSE volume. After viewing this list, click Close to close the dialog box.
