Starting SWCI
Starting SWCI
1. Before starting SWCI, review these considerations:
You must be a super-group user (255, n) to run SWCI.
When you start SWCI, SWCI checks for the device specified in the RUN
command. If that device exists, SWCI checks the device type and subtype,
which must be type 6 (terminal type), subtype 0 (asynchronous serial device).
If the device type and subtype are incorrect, SWCI returns an error
message.
If the specified device name does not exist on the specified node, SWCI
returns an error message and terminates.
2. Start SWCI from a terminal connected to a server.
To start SWCI from a NonStop S-series server directly connected to a specific
switch module, at a TACL prompt, type:
1> RUN $SYSTEM.SYSTEM.SWCI $switchmoduledevice
where:
$switchmoduledevice
is the device name of the switch module
At startup, SWCI displays the command prompt:
SWCI $switchmoduledevice >
For example:
1> RUN $SYSTEM.SYSTEM.SWCI $NDSWA.#TERM
starts SWCI and displays the command prompt:
SWCI $NDSWA.#TERM >
Note. Although it is possible to run SWCI from other servers connected to the switch module,
NonStop S-series servers are the only servers documented in this guide.
