is entered.
5. Repeat steps 1 through 4 for each port for this storage pool entry.
6. To remove the last port added to the table, click the Remove Last Port button. Ports must
be removed in the reverse order in which they were added.

Volume and path definition
After creating and presenting the volumes (LUNs), traditionally the storage administrator
provides the server administrator with the information required to complete the logical server
storage definition. You can also use Storage Provisioning Manager to streamline this process.
See “Setting up SPM for use with logical server storage” (page 63) for more information.
This information includes:
• Storage WWN, uniquely identifying the port used to communicate with the SAN
• LUN, uniquely identifying the created volume within the SAN
Using these two pieces of information, the path to the LUN is unique within the FC environment.
Redundancy
Multiple ports help performance and improve reliability through redundancy and failover
capability.
For redundancy checkboxes to become enabled, you must define two ports (one primary and
one secondary) in the Port Selection table.
• Check the Use Redundancy for all Storage Volumes for this Logical Server checkbox
if you want all volumes to implement redundancy, or
• Check the redundancy checkbox next to a specific volume to implement redundancy for
that volume.
Volume & Path Selection
A volume is a fixed disk drive on a disk array in a storage area network (SAN). When a storage
volume is mapped to a controller port, it becomes addressable in the SAN as a logical unit number
(LUN).
The Volume & Path Selection table allows you to enter the storage volume attributes for this
storage entry or storage pool entry.
On the storage pool entry screen, if you checked Use Catalog Storage, the values in this table
are filter criteria for the candidates that are displayed when you press Show Candidates.
1. Click the Add Volume button to on the right side of the screen to add a row to the Volume
& Path Selection table.
2. Select a value from the Boot Volume drop-down menu. Select Yes if the volume is a boot
volume containing the operating system. Select No if the volume is a data volume.
If you specify only one storage volume, it must be a boot volume. If you specify more than
one storage volume, only one can be a boot volume.
The default is Yes for the first volume added, and No for subsequent volumes added. Exactly
one volume within the entire logical server must show a boot volume value of Yes.
3. Enter the size in GB for the storage volume.
