This sectio
n explains the procedure for setting up a 3DC cascading conguration using Continuous
Access XP Synchronous and Continuous Access XP Journal.
1. Install Continuous Access XP Synchronous and Continuous Access XP Journal. Congure ports
and journa
lgroups.
2. Issue a re
quest for creating a Continuous Access XP Synchronous pair to the primary array where
Continuous Access XP Synchronous is installed.
3. Wait until the status of the Continuous Access XP Synchronous pair becomes PAIR.
4. Issue a re
quest for creating a Continuous Access XP Journal pair to the Continuous Access XP
Journal primary array.
When creating a Continuous Access XP Journal pair, ensure that you select a value from 1 to 3
as the mi
rror ID.
5. Wait until the status of the Continuous Access XP Journal pair becomes PAIR.
NOTE:
You must ensure that the Continuous Access XP Synchronous pair status changes to PAIR before the
Continuous Access XP Journal pair status changes to PAIR. If you made a request to a change the
Continuous Access XP Journal pair status to PAIR before the Continuous Access XP Synchronous pair
status
changes to PAIR, the request is rejected.
For more information about installing and using Continuous Access XP Synchronous, see the
HP StorageWorks Continuous Access XP user guide for the XP12000/XP10000/SVS200.Formore
information about Continuous Access XP Journal journal group conguration, see Journal group
operations. For more information about port conguration, see Conguring port attributes.
Disaster recovery
If a disaster or failure occurs in the primary site in a 3DC cascading conguration, you can use
Continuous Access XP Synchronous secondary volumes in the intermediate site to enable the intermediate
site to take over your business tasks. If a disaster or failure occurs in the primary site, you must rst
transfer your business tasks from the primary site to the intermediate site.
To transfer your business tasks to the secondary site:
1. Check the consistency of the Continuous Access XP Synchronous S-VOL in the intermediate site.
2. Use RAID Manager XP to execute the horctakeover command on the Continuous Access XP
Synchronous pair that exists between the primary and intermediate sites.
