7. Apply all the grease to the top of the processor in one of the following patterns to ensure even

distribution:

CAUTION: The heatsink is designed to fit one way in the server. Failure to install the heatsink

properly can result in thermal damage or equipment failure.

CAUTION: Heatsink retaining screws should be tightened in diagonally opposite pairs (in an

"X" pattern).

8. Align and install the heatsink with the arrow on the heatsink label pointing to the front of the server.

9. Connect the processor heatsink fan cable to the system board ("System board components" on page

68). When the heatsink is oriented properly, cable length is sufficient for the corresponding

connector.

IMPORTANT: Install all components with the same configuration that was used on the failed

system board.
