Each chart that you add can be associated with only one category. All or a few of the counter
categories will be supported for your storage system, object type, or performance object: For more
information on supported categories, see Table 1 (page 23).
IMPORTANT: If data from a storage system is being collected at 30-second intervals, a total of
400 data points will be collected in a 3-hour and 20-minute period. So, if you plot a chart for 3
hours and 20 minutes or less, all data samples collected are plotted, but if you want to view data
for any duration more than 3 hours and 20 minutes, one data sample is displayed for every hour,
which are average of all the data samples collected for every hour. In such cases, if statistical table
is also displayed, it might not match with the chart data samples. To understand how the aggregated
values are calculated, refer to the first two list items in the important note provided for Key Metrics
(see “Key Metrics” (page 20)).
Procedure
To view charts:
1. In the Navigation pane under Storage Systems, click the plus (+) sign for Storage Network.
2. To view chart at one of the following levels:
Storage system
From the list, select the monitored storage system and click the Performance tab in
the Content pane.
a.
b. Proceed to step 3.
Individual object type
From the list, click the plus (+) sign for the storage system for whose performance
objects you want to plot charts.
a.
b. From the list, select the object type folder to which the performance objects belong
and click the Performance tab in the Content pane.
c. Proceed to step 3.
Individual performance object
a. From the list, click the plus (+) sign for the storage system for whose performance
object you want to plot charts.
b. From the list, click the plus (+) sign for the object type folder to which the performance
object belongs and click the Performance tab in the Content pane.
c. Select the performance object from the objects that appear and click the Performance
tab in the Content pane.
d. Proceed to step 3.
3. Click the Chart tab.
If charts are already added, they appear in chart windows in the Grid view by default. You can
view the corresponding chart records in the List view and toggle between the two views. For more

information, see Adding charts” (page 119).
The following are possible on a chart window in the Grid view:
Edit existing chart settings in a chart to view data samples for a different duration, see “Editing
chart settings” (page 121).
Print or save a chart, see “Printing charts” (page 118) and “Saving charts” (page 118)
respectively.
Open a chart in a new window, see “Opening a chart in a new window” (page 117).
Zoom in or out on data samples in a chart, see “Zooming in and out on charts” (page 118).
