A.10 enable commands
A.10.1 enable alert
The enable alert command enables email alerts so that email messages are sent when events occur
that match the filters on the alerts.
If an email alert is already enabled when you enter the enable alert command, no error message is
reported—the alert simply remains enabled.
Syntax
enable alert alert_name|all
Arguments
alert_name|all Required. Specify the email alert to be enabled, or all to enable all email
alerts.
Example
The following example enables the server_down alert:
sfs> enable alert server_down
A.10.2 enable server
The enable server command is used to specify that the services are to run on the server the next time it
is booted.
There are times when you want to bring up an Object Storage Server without any OST services running on
the server. To do this, you shut down the server and then enter the disable server server_name
command (see Section A.9.2) to disable the server. The services on the server automatically fail over to the
peer server. When you start the server again, no services start on the server.
To restart the services on the server again, shut down the server and then enter the enable server
server_name command. When you boot the server again, the services start on the server, and the
Server Enabled field in the output from the show server command shows a value of yes.
Syntax
enable server server_name|all
Arguments
server_name|all Required. Specify the servers to be enabled, or all to enable all Object
Storage Servers. You can specify a single server, a comma-separated list of
servers, or a range of servers.

The following example enables the south3 server:
sfs> enable server south3
