Use the following information to help you to understand the output:
• On the administration and MDS servers, the value of the Desired Config. State field changes
during system configuration. On Object Storage Servers, the value changes during the time the server
is booting.
• The Internal Logical Disk field shows the state of the logical disk using the internal physical
disk drive(s) controlled by the Smart Array 6i RAID controller. If there is a failure of the physical disk
drives, an ERROR status is shown. If this happens, use the hpacucli utility to view the logical and
physical status of the disks attached to the Smart Array 6i RAID controller.
The syscheck command also reports any failures of internal logical disks. Note that Object Storage
Servers can continue to operate without any working disk drive, and the administration and MDS
servers can continue to operate if one disk drive fails.
• For the nic2 network interface, the following information is shown:
• If the network is used as an interconnect (as is the case in the example above), the
Network ID field contains the network ID of this server
• If the network is not used as an interconnect, the Network ID field contains a dash (-).
On the administration and MDS servers, this interface may also be used for the connection to the site
network, depending on the system configuration. For more information on possible configurations,
refer to the HP StorageWorks Scalable File Share System Installation and Upgrade Guide.
• The nic1 network interface is used for the connection to the management network.
• The value in the Network ID field is used to identify the interconnect when mounting file systems
(using the mount(8) and sfsmount(8) commands).
• The Integrated Management Log (IML) events field shows the number of critical and
caution events recorded (by the HP SFS monitoring software) for the server during the previous 30
days. If the number of critical events is not zero, you must investigate and resolve these events. See
Section 6.6 for more information on the Integrated Management Log.
The following example shows the output from the show server server_name command in a system
where SFS20 storage is used. The host bus adapter section of the output is different to the output shown for
an EVA4000 array and an additional section shows which Smart Array 6404 controller and port is used
to connect to each array. In this example, port 1 of the first Smart Array 6404 controller is used to connect
to array 3, and port 2 on the same controller is used to connect to array 4. Note that in the HP SFS user
interface, the SFS20 storage array type is displayed as MSA20:
