3.2 Using Compilers
You can use compilers acquired fro m other v e ndo rs on an HP XC system. For example, HP
XC supports Intel C/C++ and F ortran compilers for the 64-b it architecture, an d Portland Group
C/C++ and Fortran compilers for the XC4000 platform.
You can use other compilers and libraries on the HP XC system as on any other s y stem,
provided they contain single-processo r routines and have n o dependencies on another
message-passing system.
3.2.1 Standard Linux Compilers
The standard L inux C com piler (gcc), C++ compiler (gcc++), and Fortran 77 compiler (g77)
and libraries are supported on the HP XC system. They perform as described in the Linux
documentation.
The HP XC System Software supplies these compilers by default.

.2 Intel C ompilers
The information in this section pertains to using Intel compilers in the HP XC environment o n
the 64-bit arc hi tecture p latf or m. Intel compilers are not supplied with the HP XC system. The
following Intel compilers are supported for this version of HP XC:
• Intel Fortran and C/C++ Version 8.0 compilers
• Intel Fortran and C/C++ Version 7.1 compilers
Use one of the commands listed in Table 3-1 to compile programs with Intel compilers,
depending upon what Intel com pilers are installed on you r system.

* These compilers can be used, but will not be supported by Intel much longer.
3.2.3 PGI Compilers
The information in this section pertains to using PGI compilers in the HP XC environment on
the XC4000 platfo rm . The following PGI compilers are supported for this ver sion of HP XC:
• PGI Fortran 95 and C/C++ compilers
• PGI Fortran 77 and C/C++ compilers
Use one of the commands listed in Table 3-2 to compile programs with PG I com pilers,
depending upon w hat PGI compilers are installed on your system.
